CREATING ASTHMA/ALLERGY FRIENDLY SCHOOLS IN ALBERTA

Completed a province-wide initiative to pilot implementaion of a school asthma policy in four health regions. Funded by Alberta Strategy to Help Manage Asthma (ASTHMA) & Community Iniatives Program. Thank you to all the partners, health regions and schools. Thank you especially to our partners with the Ontario Public Health School Asthma Project who provided their resource kit for schools. Mulitple stakeholders are meeting with government to develop a strategic plan that will help ensure that schools are asthma/allergy friendly.

Partnered with the Community-Based Asthma Intervention project in Red Deer to help develop a School Policy for Asthma (McGhan et al., 2002).
