CREATING ASTHMA/ALLERGY FRIENDLY SCHOOLS IN ALBERTA

Completed a province-wide initiative to pilot implementaion of a school asthma policy in four health regions. Funded by Alberta Strategy to Help Manage Asthma (ASTHMA) & Community Iniatives Program. Mulitple stakeholders are meeting with government to develop a strategic plan that will help ensure that schools are asthma/allergy friendly.

Partnered with the Community-Based Asthma Intervention project in Red Deer to help develop a School Policy for Asthma (McGhan et al., 2002).
