PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION IN ASTHMA MANAGEMENT (ProCAM) PROGRAM
The Professional Certification Program in Asthma Management (ProCAM) has progressed from its origin in 1994 as a 6-month series of interactive workshops and practical activities asthma education training program to a fully online, nationally certified, multidisciplinary training program that encompasses three courses of the Thomson Rivers University, the distance education university in British Columbia.
ProCAM was one of the original two comprehensive asthma education programs in Canada and its content and educational approach helped guide the development of the national Certification in Asthma Education (CAE) established by the Canadian Network for Asthma Care (CNAC). Indeed, members of the Centre, Shawna McGhan and Heather Wells have both served on committees charged with developing, improving, and updating the national certification process.
To date over 160 health professionals have taken ProCAM; graduants have consistently performed at or above the average in the national certification examination.
