A GROUP PROGRAM FOR ADULTS WITH ASTHMA

"Achieve Your Personal Best"

Literature suggests that group education has greater long term results than individual education. For that reason, the Alberta Asthma Centre offers monthly group education. The two-part interactive program nicely supplements medical treatment to promote optimal asthma management. Lectures, group discussions, hands-on demonstrations and practice and a small group environment facilitates learning, interaction and peer-support. Participants gain competent self-management knowledge and skills. Participant's physicians receive a follow-up letter. A teaching curriculum has allowed various locations within Alberta to use and adapt the program.
